B has his first band concert next Thursday night at 6:30pm. I went out to get him something nice to wear, and now he is the proud owner of 2 ties, one muted blue and one power red. Growing up with neo-fascist Christians, all boys wore suits to church and all girls wore dresses, so in my world all boys owned ties. The church they attend now allows jeans (jeans to church?), therefore I have had no reason to buy them ties. It feels like some milestone has been reached now that I have. I honestly started to cry when I put one on B. I know, I'm a dork, but he just seemed so grown up, wearing a dress shirt and tie.
Josh got his promotion yesterday. Not the big one where we have to move to another state, just the here's the title and pay raise for the job you have already been doing for the last 2 years promotion. I am quite happy for him. He was much more patient with the whole process than I was (I believe I heard the word bitch fly around more than once).
All & all, it was a lovely week we've had. Hope yours was nice, too.
The baby is off to Grandma's. I have left her with a babysitter so I can clean my filthy house. It's come to that. T read me a book the other night. By that, I do not mean he recited a book from memory. He sat down and read me Green Eggs and Ham. I about died from the shock. My brother will get here tonight. I am officially scared to death of this weekend. My family is already driving me looney and they haven't even arrived. My dinner, however, will kick a serious amount of ass. I cannot wait to eat it.
Oh, see, I told you. I have already forgotten the rest. So, more on all that later, and Happy Turkey day to you all.
One more thing...Andy and his wife went & had a cute ol' world wide runt #2, with great big fat cheeks. See for yourself. Congrats!
(actually, it was 100 bucks and a trip to Target, but I'm happy & feeling dramatic, ok?)
She is asleep. In a swing. And she did it all by herself.
It's gonna be a good day.
I did manage to cook a few times this week. After more than a month of spaghettio's and happy meals, I figured the boys could use some decent food. So dad dealt with a screaming baby, we finally ate something decent, and I feel a little more human again. Mind you, it was nothing fancy, just calzones one night, meatloaf the next, but I haven't kneaded a dough in a while and it felt good. It's funny the things you miss when you get too busy.
B has his fall vocal program at school tomorrow night. He has a speaking role with 5 lines to say. He is super crazy excited. He has been home sick all week (104.6 degree fever) and so we have been rehearsing a lot with all the time on our hands. We'll go out for ice cream afterwards to make a big deal of it. It should be a fun night.
